Welcome to the Property Powwow Blog

Why we started this blog

The UK property internet is loud. It's full of bright orange CTAs, six-figure income claims, and 'mentors' who couldn't tell you what a lease extension actually costs.

This blog is the opposite of that. It's a place where I — Katie — will share the things I actually wish someone had told me when I started investing. The deals that went wrong. The conversations with brokers that taught me more than any seminar. The boring, slow, unglamorous parts of building a portfolio that genuinely changes your family's future.

What you'll find here

Expect three things from every post:

  1. A real story, not a sales pitch. If I'm writing about a refinance, I'll tell you the actual numbers — the lender, the rate, the fee, the LTV. Not a hypothetical 'you could…'
  2. The mindset piece, because property is 80% how you think and 20% spreadsheets. We'll talk about fear, patience, comparison, and the loneliness of doing this differently.
  3. A clear next step. Every post will end with something small you can actually do this week. Not 'start a £100k JV' — more like 'open a savings account specifically for stamp duty so it stops feeling abstract.'

Who this is for

If you're an estate agent, broker, or surveyor curious about investing for yourself — welcome.

If you've bought one or two properties and are wondering whether to scale, take a breath, or step back — welcome.

If you've been scrolling property TikTok for six months and feel more confused than when you started — especially welcome.

The community is here when you're ready. The blog is here whether you ever join or not.
